حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ حَدَّثَنِي سُ

لَيْمَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ قَالَ لَمَّا خَرَجَ الْمَجُوسِيُّ مِنْ عِنْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَأَلْتُهُ فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيَّرَهُ بَيْنَ الْجِزْيَةِ وَالْقَتْلِ فَاخْتَارَ الْجِزْيَةَ

English Translation

'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf (رضي الله عنه) said: 'When the Magian came out from the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I asked him and he informed me that he said: The way with them (Magians) is the same way as with the People of the Book — meaning the jizyah.'
