حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَنْبَأَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قَارِظٍ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ وَهُوَ مَرِيضٌ فَقَالَ لَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَصَلَتْكَ رَحِمٌ إِنَّ النَّ
بِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنَا الرَّحْمَنُ وَخَلَقْتُ الرَّحِمَ وَشَقَقْتُ لَهَا مِنْ اسْمِي فَمَنْ يَصِلْهَا أَصِلْهُ وَمَنْ يَقْطَعْهَا أَقْطَعْهُ أَوْ قَالَ مَنْ يَبُتَّهَا أَبْتُتْهُ

English Translation
Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, Hisham informed us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Ibrahim ibn 'Abdullah ibn Qariz, that his father narrated to him that he entered upon 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf (رضي الله عنه) while he was ill. 'Abd al-Rahman said to him: 'May the ties of kinship be maintained with you. the Prophet ﷺ said: Allah (عز وجل) said: I am al-Rahman. I created al-rahim (the ties of kinship) and derived its name from My Name. Whoever maintains it, I will maintain ties with him, and whoever severs it, I will sever ties with him,' or he said: 'whoever cuts it off, I will cut him off.'
