حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ عَنْ نَصْرِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيِّ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ شَيْبَانَ الْحُدَّانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ قُلْتُ لَ
هُ أَلَا تُحَدِّثُنِي حَدِيثًا عَنْ أَبِيكَ سَمِعَهُ أَبُوكَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَقْبَلَ رَمَضَانُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ رَمَضَانَ شَهْرٌ افْتَرَضَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ صِيَامَهُ وَإِنِّي سَنَنْتُ لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ قِيَامَهُ فَمَنْ صَامَهُ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا خَرَجَ مِنْ الذُّنُوبِ كَيَوْمِ وَلَدَتْهُ أُمُّهُ

English Translation
Surayj ibn al-Nu'man narrated to us, Nuh ibn Qays narrated to us, from Nasr ibn 'Ali al-Jahdami, from al-Nadr ibn Shayban al-Huddani, from Abu Salamah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman, who said: I said to him: 'Will you not narrate to me a hadith from your father that your father heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?' He said: 'When Ramadan approached, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Verily, Ramadan is a month in which Allah (عز وجل) has made its fasting obligatory, and I have established its night prayer as a Sunnah for the Muslims. Whoever fasts it with faith and seeking reward will emerge from his sins as on the day his mother bore him.'
