English Translation
Abu Sa'id narrated to us, Qays ibn al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abdullah ibn Abi al-Safar narrated to me, from Ibn Shurahbil, from Ibn 'Abbas, from al-'Abbas (رضي الله عنهم), who said: I entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while his wives were with him. They screened themselves from me except Maymunah. He said: 'No one in the house who witnessed the ladd [forced medicine] shall remain except that he shall be given ladd, except that my right hand did not reach al-'Abbas.' Then he said: 'Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer.' 'A'ishah said to Hafsah: 'Tell him that Abu Bakr is a man who, when he stands in your place, weeps.' He said: 'Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in prayer.' So Abu Bakr stood and prayed. Then the Prophet ﷺ felt some relief and came. Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) stepped back and wanted to withdraw, but the Prophet ﷺ sat beside him and then recited.
