English Translation

Asbat ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Hisham ibn Sa'd narrated to us, from 'Ubaydullah ibn 'Abbas ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib, the brother of 'Abdullah, who said: "Al-'Abbas had a water spout over the path of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab. On the day of Friday, 'Umar put on his clothes, and two chicks had been slaughtered for al-'Abbas. When he reached the water spout, water mixed with the blood of the chicks was poured down and it hit 'Umar, staining his clothes with the blood of the chicks. So 'Umar ordered it to be removed. Then 'Umar went back, took off his clothes, put on different ones, then came and led the people in prayer. Al-'Abbas came to him and said: 'By Allah, it was placed in the very spot where the Prophet ﷺ placed it.' So 'Umar said to al-'Abbas: 'And I insist that you climb on my back and place it in the spot where the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed it.' So al-'Abbas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) did that."
