'Affan narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umayr narrated to us, from 'Abdullah ibn al-Harith ibn Nawfal, from al-'Abbas ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib (رضي الله عنه), who said: "O Messenger of Allah, have you benefited Abu Talib in any way? For he used to protect you and become angry on your behalf." He said: "Yes, he is in a shallow pool of fire. Were it not for me, he would have been in the lowest depth of the Fire."
