حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُمَرَ أَبُو الْمُنْذِرِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ الزَّرَّادِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ تَمّ
َامِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ أَتَوْا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَوْ أُتِيَ فَقَالَ مَا لِي أَرَاكُمْ تَأْتُونِي قُلْحًا اسْتَاكُوا لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَفَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ السِّوَاكَ كَمَا فَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ الْوُضُوءَ

English Translation
Isma'il ibn 'Umar Abu al-Mundhir narrated to us, he said: Sufyan narrated to us, from Abu 'Ali al-Zarrad, he said: Ja'far ibn Tamam ibn 'Abbas narrated to me, from his father, who said: "People came to the Prophet ﷺ — or he was approached — and he said: 'Why do I see you coming to me with discolored teeth? Use the siwak! Were it not that I would burden my nation, I would have made the siwak obligatory upon them just as I made wudu' obligatory upon them.'"
