English Translation

Sufyan narrated to us, from 'Amr, from 'Ata', and Ibn Jurayj from 'Ata', from Ibn 'Abbas, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delayed it ('Isha prayer) until much of the night had passed as Allah willed. 'Umar said: "O Messenger of Allah, the women and children have fallen asleep." So he came out and said: "Were it not that I would burden my nation, I would have commanded them to pray it at this hour."
