Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ أَنَّ أَبَا الشَّعْثَاءِ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ وَهُوَ يَقُول
ُ مَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ إِزَارًا وَوَجَدَ سَرَاوِيلَ فَلْيَلْبَسْهَا وَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ نَعْلَيْنِ وَوَجَدَ خُفَّيْنِ فَلْيَلْبَسْهُمَا قُلْتُ لَمْ يَقُلْ لِيَقْطَعْهُمَا قَالَ لَا

English Translation
Yahya narrated from Ibn Jurayj, 'Amr ibn Dinar informed me that Abu al-Sha'tha' informed him that Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) informed him that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ giving a sermon, saying: 'Whoever does not find an izar (lower garment) but finds trousers, let him wear them. And whoever does not find sandals but finds leather socks, let him wear them.' I (the sub-narrator) said: 'Did he not say "let him cut them"?' He said: 'No.'
