حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كِنَانَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ مُتَخَشِّعًا مُتَضَرِّعًا مُتَوَاضِعًا مُتَبَذِّلًا مُتَرَسِّلًا فَصَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ كَمَا يُصَلِّي فِي الْعِيدِ لَمْ يَخْطُبْ كَخُطْبَتِكُمْ هَذِهِ
English Translation
Waki' narrated from Sufyan, from Hisham ibn Ishaq ibn 'Abdullah ibn Kinanah, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما): the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out in a state of humility, supplication, modesty, plainness, and walking slowly. He prayed two rak'ahs with the people as he would pray for Eid — he did not deliver a sermon like this sermon of yours (i.e., it was the istisqa'/rain prayer).
