English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, I heard Yahya ibn al-Mujabbir al-Taymi narrating from Salim ibn Abi al-Ja'd, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما), that a man came to him and said: "What about a man who kills another man deliberately?" He recited: {His recompense is Hell, abiding therein, and the wrath of Allah upon him, and He cursed him and prepared for him a great punishment} [4:93]. He said: "It was revealed among the last of what was revealed, and nothing abrogated it until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away, and no revelation came down after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." The man said: "What if he repents, believes, does righteous deeds, and finds guidance?" He said: "How can he have repentance when I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Woe to his mother! A man who kills another man deliberately — the victim will come on the Day of Judgment holding his killer with his right hand — or his left — and holding his own head with his right hand — or his left — with blood gushing from his jugular veins before the Throne, saying: O Lord, ask Your servant why he killed me.'"
