English Translation

Ya'qub narrated to us, my father narrated to me, from al-Zuhri, from 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Abdullah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: The People of the Book used to let their hair hang down, while the polytheists used to part their hair. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ preferred to agree with the People of the Book in matters about which he had not received a command. So he let his hair hang down over his forehead. Then later he parted it.
