حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ غَيْلَانَ حَدَّثَنَا رِشْدِينُ حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ ثَوْبَانَ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْمَعَافِرِيِّ حَدَّثَنِي حَنَشٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ ال
ْآيَةُ { نِسَاؤُكُمْ حَرْثٌ لَكُمْ } فِي أُنَاسٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ أَتَوْا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَأَلُوهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ائْتِهَا عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ إِذَا كَانَ فِي الْفَرْجِ

English Translation
Yahya ibn Ghaylan narrated to us, Rishdin narrated to us, Hasan ibn Thawban narrated to us, from 'Amir ibn Yahya al-Ma'afiri, Hanash narrated to me, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: This verse was revealed: 'Spend your wealth in the cause of Allah and do not throw yourselves into destruction with your own hands' [Al-Baqarah 2:195]. This was not about fighting, but rather it was revealed concerning spending — that you should not withhold spending in the cause of Allah عز وجل, for that would be throwing yourselves into destruction.
