English Translation

Bahz narrated to us, Aban ibn Yazid al-'Attar narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to us, from Abu al-'Aliyah al-Riyahi, from the cousin of your Prophet ﷺ — meaning Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — that the Prophet ﷺ of Allah ﷺ said: 'On the night I was taken on the Night Journey, I saw Musa (عليه السلام) — a tall, brown-skinned man, as if he was from the men of Shanu'ah. And I saw 'Isa (عليه السلام) — a man of moderate build, red-complexioned, as if he had just come out of a bath. And I saw Ibrahim (عليه السلام), and I am the one who most resembles him among his descendants.' Then he was brought two vessels — one of milk and one of wine. He said: 'Drink whichever you wish.' So I took the milk and drank it. He said: 'You have been guided to the fitrah (natural disposition). Had you taken the wine, your ummah would have gone astray.'
