English Translation

'Abdullah ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Duwayd, Isma'il ibn Thawban narrated to me, from Jabir ibn Zayd, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The muezzin is not liable' — meaning he is trusted regarding the prayer times — 'and the imam is responsible.' He ﷺ also said: 'O Allah, guide the muezzins and forgive the imams.'
