Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ يَعْنِي الدَّسْتُوَائِيَّ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ عِكْ
رِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا تَفْتَخِرُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَمَا يُدَهْدِهُ الْجُعَلُ بِمَنْخَرَيْهِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ آبَائِكُمْ الَّذِينَ مَاتُوا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ

English Translation
Sulayman ibn Dawud narrated to us, Hisham, meaning al-Dastawa'i, narrated to us, from Ayyub, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Do not boast about your forefathers who have died. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, the dung beetle that rolls dung with its nose is better than a man whose father dies as a disbeliever.' Or he ﷺ said: 'What the dung beetle rolls is better than them.'
