حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِجُبْنَةٍ ف
ِي غَزَاةٍ فَقَالَ أَيْنَ صُنِعَتْ هَذِهِ فَقَالُوا بِفَارِسَ وَنَحْنُ نُرَى أَنَّهُ يُجْعَلُ فِيهَا مَيْتَةً فَقَالَ اطْعَنُوا فِيهَا بِالسِّكِّينِ وَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللَّهِ وَكُلُوا ذَكَرَهُ شَرِيكٌ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى فَزَادَ فِيهِ فَجَعَلُوا يَضْرِبُونَهَا بِالْعِصِيِّ

English Translation
Aswad narrated to us, Sharik narrated to us, from Jabir, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Prophet ﷺ was brought a piece of cheese during a military expedition and asked: 'Where was this made?' They said: 'In Persia, and we do not know whether the name of Allah was mentioned over it or not.' He ﷺ said: 'Mention the name of Allah over it and eat.' — Indicating that food from the People of the Book is permissible with the mention of Allah's name.
