Revelation of Surah al-Muddaththir

After the first revelation, there was a pause (fatrah) during which the Prophet ﷺ became anxious. Then Jibreel appeared again as the Prophet was wrapped in his cloak, revealing: 'O you who covers himself, arise and warn. And your Lord glorify. And your clothing purify. And uncleanliness avoid' (74:1-5). This surah marked the transition from private devotion to active prophetic mission. The command 'arise and warn' defined his life's work of calling humanity to the worship of One God.
