Siege of Ta'if

After Hunayn, the remnants of the defeated Thaqif retreated to their fortified city of Ta'if. The Prophet ﷺ besieged the city for about 20 days, employing catapults for the first time. The siege was unsuccessful as the fortifications were strong. The Prophet withdrew, and companions asked him to curse the people of Ta'if. He instead prayed: 'O Allah, guide Thaqif and bring them to Islam.' Within a year, the Thaqif delegation came to Medina and accepted Islam voluntarily.
