6.The One Who Has Intended an Repeating his Prayer Because He Who Had Intended an Optio There are three possible situations: (1) The follower and Imaam agreement inwardly and outwardly; (2) The follower and Imaam outwardly but not inwardly, such as obligatory prayer behind one who i prayer; (3) The follower and Imaam inwardly only. The scholars have differed on these issues. The First Opinion: It is obligatory for the Imaam and follower to agree in both intention and outward action. The Second Opinion: It is permissible for the Imaam and follower to differ in both. The Strongest Opinion: It is obligatory that the Imaam and follower agree in the outward matters but not the inward.
