Introduction to Fortress of the Muslim: Supplications from the Quran and Sunnah

مقدمة حصن المسلم

Du'a — supplication to Allah — is described in the Quran as worship itself: "Call upon Me, I will respond to you. Indeed, those who are too proud to worship Me will enter Hell in humiliation" (40:60). The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught specific supplications for every circumstance of human life: waking and sleeping, entering and leaving home, eating and drinking, travel and illness, fear and joy, times of hardship and ease. These du'as are not incidental — they are part of the Sunnah, the living practice of those who submitted to Allah.

Compiled by Sa'id ibn 'Ali ibn Wahf al-Qahtani, Fortress of the Muslim (Hisn al-Muslim) is the most widely distributed collection of these prophetic supplications in the modern era. Organized by situation and daily life context, the book draws exclusively from the Quran and authenticated hadiths, providing the Arabic text of each supplication alongside its transliteration and English meaning. References to the source hadith collections (Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, etc.) accompany each entry, allowing the reader to verify the source.

The collection covers morning and evening adhkar; the remembrance of Allah after prayers; supplications when entering and leaving the masjid, home, and market; du'as for wearing new clothing, rain, thunder, and wind; remembrance when feeling sadness, anxiety, or fear; du'as for the sick and dying; and the powerful protection formulas from Surah al-Falaq, Surah an-Nas, and Ayat al-Kursi.

For a Muslim, this small book is a daily companion — a return to the Sunnah in its most intimate and practical form, keeping the tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah throughout every part of the day.
