الأذكار اليومية
The daily remembrance sections of Hisn al-Muslim are its most widely used and most influential. The morning (sabah) and evening (masa) adhkar sections gather the authenticated prophetic formulas prescribed for the beginning and end of the day, presenting them in a clear, readable format with transliteration-friendly Arabic text and, in many editions, translations into various languages. The practice of reciting these remembrances — typically after the Fajr prayer for the morning adhkar and after the Asr or Maghrib prayer for the evening adhkar — has been spread globally largely through the distribution of Hisn al-Muslim.
The morning adhkar section includes the formulas for affirming one's entrance into the new day in a state of faith and submission to God, the specific numbers of glorifications (Subhan Allah), praises (Alhamdulillah), and declarations of God's greatness (Allahu Akbar) that the Prophet prescribed, the supplication for protection from harm and disease, and the formulas invoking God's blessing on the coming day. Each of these formulas is presented with its source attribution, and the repetitions specified by the Prophet are clearly noted.
The after-prayer adhkar — the remembrances prescribed following each of the five daily prayers — are organized separately for the general after-prayer formulas and for any occasion-specific additions. The Prophet's prescribed sequence of glorifications, praises, and declarations of God's greatness after each prayer, along with the recitation of the Throne Verse and the last three Surahs of the Quran after the Fajr and Maghrib prayers, are all presented clearly. These after-prayer adhkar have been one of the primary vehicles through which the prophetic devotional practice has been transmitted and maintained in Muslim communities.
The bedtime and sleep adhkar are among the most beloved sections of Hisn al-Muslim, gathering the supplications and formulas that the Prophet prescribed for the transition from wakefulness to sleep. The authenticated supplications for lying down, the specific Surahs and verses to be recited before sleep, and the formulas of remembrance that close the day are presented here with the sourcing and authentication notes that characterize the entire collection.
