Hadith #449
Arabic Text
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، قَالَ :" إِذَا وَقَعَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى امْرَأَتِهِ وَهِيَ حَائِضٌ يَتَصَ
دَّقُ بِنِصْفِ دِينَارٍ "، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْقَوْمِ : فَإِنَّ الْحَسَنَ، يَقُولُ : يُعْتِقُ رَقَبَةً، فَقَالَ : " مَا أَنْهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَقَرَّبُوا إِلَى اللَّهِ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ "

English Translation
It was narrated from a scholar that he said: 'If a man has intercourse with his wife while she is menstruating, he should give half a dinar in charity.' A man from the people said to him: 'Al-Hasan says he must free a slave.' The scholar replied: 'I do not know this from al-Hasan.'
