Chain of Narration (Isnad)

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَسَّانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَتِيقٍ ، قَالَ : قَرَأْتُ فِي بَعْضِ كُتُبِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْ

Body (Matn)

دِ الْعَزِيزِ فِي الْقَوْمِ يَقَعُ عَلَيْهِمْ الْبَيْتُ، لَا يُدْرَى أَيُّهُمَا مَاتَ قَبْلُ؟ قَالَ :" لَا يُوَرَّثُ الْأَمْوَاتُ بَعْضُهُمْ مِنْ بَعْضٍ، وَيُوَرَّثُ الْأَحْيَاءُ مِنْ الْأَمْوَاتِ "

English Translation

It was narrated from Yahya ibn 'Atiq that he said: 'I read in some of the writings of 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz regarding people upon whom a house collapsed and it was not known which of them died first: "The deceased do not inherit from each other. Rather, the living inherit from the deceased."'
