Hadith #2445
Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْوَلِيدُ ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ غَيْلَانَ ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ حِينَ أَوْصَى، قَالَ : " نَشَهُّدُ هَذَا فَاشْهَدْ بِهِ :نَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ، وَيُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ، وَيَكْفُرُ بِالطَّاغُوتِ عَلَى ذَلِكَ يَحْيَا إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ، وَيَمُوتُ، وَيُبْعَثُ، وَأَوْصَى فِيمَا رَزَ
قَهُ اللَّهُ فِيمَا تَرَكَ إِنْ حَدَثَ بِهِ حَدَثٌ وَهُوَ كَذَا وَكَذَا، إِنْ لَمْ يُغَيِّرْ شَيْئًا مِمَّا فِي هَذِهِ الْوَصِيَّةِ ". حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، قَالَ : هَذِهِ وَصِيَّةُ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Makhul that when he made his bequest he said: "Witness this and bear witness to it: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone with no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. I believe in Allah and disbelieve in idols (taghut) — upon that, if Allah wills, I live and die and will be raised." He then bequeathed from what Allah had provided him in what he was leaving, should anything happen to him — unless he changed anything in this will. It was also reported: this was the bequest of Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him).
