حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُصَيْفَةَ ، عَنْ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ سُفْيَانَ بْنَ أَبِي زُهَيْرٍ يُحَدِّثُ نَاسًا مَعَهُ عِنْدَ بَاب الْمَسْجِدِ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ :" مَنْ اقْ
تَنَى كَلْبًا لَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ زَرْعًا وَلَا ضَرْعًا، نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ ". قَالُوا : أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ؟ قَالَ : إِي وَرَبِّ هَذَا الْمَسْجِدِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Sufyan ibn Abi Zuhayr (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Whoever keeps a dog that is not used for farming or herding, one qirat is deducted from his deeds every day.' They said: Did you yourself hear this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? He said: 'Yes, by the Lord of this mosque.'
