حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ عِيسَى أَبُو بِشْرٍ الرَّاسِبِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ كُنْتُ غُلَامًا أَسْعَى مَعَ الْغِلْمَانِ فَالْتَفَتُّ فَإِذَا أَنَا بِنَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَلْفِي مُقْبِلًا فَقُلْتُ مَا جَاءَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّ
ى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا إِلَيَّ قَالَ فَسَعَيْتُ حَتَّى أَخْتَبِئَ وَرَاءَ بَابِ دَارٍ قَالَ فَلَمْ أَشْعُرْ حَتَّى تَنَاوَلَنِي فَأَخَذَ بِقَفَايَ فَحَطَأَنِي حَطْأَةً فَقَالَ اذْهَبْ فَادْعُ لِي مُعَاوِيَةَ قَالَ وَكَانَ كَاتِبَهُ فَسَعَيْتُ فَأَتَيْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ فَقُلْتُ أَجِبْ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَإِنَّهُ عَلَى حَاجَةٍ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via Abu Hamzah — that he said: 'I was a young boy running with the other boys when I turned around and there was the Prophet ﷺ of Allah (ﷺ) behind me, coming toward me. I said [to myself]: "the Prophet ﷺ of Allah (ﷺ) has come for none but me." So I ran until I hid behind a door. Before I knew it, he had reached me, grabbed me by the back of my neck, and gave me a firm pat, then said: "Go and call Mu'awiyah for me" — he was his scribe. So I ran and went to Mu'awiyah and said: "Answer the call of the Prophet ﷺ of Allah (ﷺ) — he needs you."'
