حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ جَمَعْتُ الْمُحْكَمَ فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلّ
َمَ وَقُبِضَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا ابْنُ عَشْرِ حِجَجٍ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ وَمَا الْمُحْكَمُ قَالَ الْمُفَصَّلُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via Sa'id ibn Jubayr — that he said: 'I committed al-muhkam to memory during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. the Prophet ﷺ passed away when I was ten years old.' [Sa'id ibn Jubayr] said: 'I asked him: "What is al-muhkam?"' He said: 'Al-Mufassal [the shorter surahs at the end of the Quran].'
