English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via Sa'id ibn Jubayr — that he said: 'I was walking with Ibn 'Umar and Ibn 'Abbas along one of the roads of Madinah when we came upon some young men who had tied a chicken [as a target] and were shooting arrows at it, with the owner of each missed arrow forfeiting it [to the others]. One of them became angry and said: "Who did this?" They dispersed. Ibn 'Umar said: "the Messenger of Allah ﷺ cursed whoever mutilates animals."'
