حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّهُ ك
َانَ عِنْدَ الْحَجَرِ وَعِنْدَهُ مِحْجَنٌ يَضْرِبُ بِهِ الْحَجَرَ وَيُقَبِّلُهُ فَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ { يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلَا تَمُوتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُونَ } لَوْ أَنَّ قَطْرَةً قُطِرَتْ مِنْ الزَّقُّومِ فِي الْأَرْضِ لَأَمَرَّتْ عَلَى أَهْلِ الدُّنْيَا مَعِيشَتَهُمْ فَكَيْفَ بِمَنْ هُوَ طَعَامُهُ وَلَيْسَ لَهُ طَعَامٌ غَيْرُهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via Mujahid — that he was at the [Black] Stone [at the Ka'bah] with a curved stick [mihjan] with which he would touch the Stone and kiss [the stick]. He said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ [recited]: "O you who believe, fear Allah as He deserves to be feared, and do not die except as Muslims" [3:102] — [then said]: "If a single drop of zaqqum [the tree of Hell] were poured onto the earth, it would make life bitter for all the people of the world — so how about one for whom it is his only food and he has no other food?"'
