Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَال
َ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا شَيْئًا فِيهِ الرُّوحُ غَرَضًا حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ مِثْلَهُ قَالَ أَيْ شُعْبَةُ قُلْتَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via Sa'id ibn Jubayr — from the Prophet ﷺ that he said: 'Do not take any living creature as a target [to shoot at].' [A second chain with the same text is also given. When Hashim asked Shu'bah: 'O Shu'bah, did you trace it to the Prophet ﷺ?' He said: 'From the Prophet ﷺ.']
