َيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَمَانِيًا جَمِيعًا وَسَبْعًا جَمِيعًا قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ لِمَ فَعَلَ ذَاكَ قَالَ أَرَادَ أَنْ لَا يُحْرِجَ أُمَّتَهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via Sa'id ibn Jubayr — via Abu al-Zubayr — that he said: 'I prayed with the Prophet ﷺ eight [rak'ahs] combined [Dhuhr and 'Asr] and seven combined [Maghrib and 'Isha'].' I asked Ibn 'Abbas: 'Why did he do that?' He said: 'He wished not to put his ummah in hardship.'
