حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ وَأَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى
اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الرِّكَازِ الْخُمُسَ قَالَ أَبِي حَدَّثَنَاه أَسْوَدُ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ قَالَ وَقَضَى وَقَالَ أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قَضَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الرِّكَازِ الْخُمُسَ

English Translation
'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, he said: Isra'il informed us — and Abu Nu'aym narrated to us, Isra'il narrated to us — from Simak, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled that the oath belongs to the defendant. — This is a foundational principle of Islamic jurisprudence: the burden of proof is on the claimant, and the oath is on the one who denies.
