English Translation
Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Zuhayr narrated to us, from 'Abdullah ibn 'Uthman ibn Khuthaym, he said: Sa'id ibn Jubayr informed me that he heard Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) saying: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his cheek on the cheek of Ibrahim (his son) while he was dying, and his eyes were flowing with tears. 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf said: 'You too, O Messenger of Allah?' He ﷺ said: 'O son of 'Awf, it is mercy.' Then he ﷺ wept again and said: 'The eye weeps and the heart grieves, and we say nothing except what pleases our Lord. And indeed, by your departure, O Ibrahim, we are saddened.'
