Arabic Text
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورٌ عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ مَسْرُوقٍ فِي بَيْتٍ فِيهِ تِمْثَالُ مَرْيَمَ فَقَالَ مَسْرُوقٌ هَذَا تِمْثَالُ كِسْر
َى فَقُلْتُ لَا وَلَكِنْ تِمْثَالُ مَرْيَمَ فَقَالَ مَسْرُوقٌ أَمَا إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ أَشَدَّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الْمُصَوِّرُونَ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-'Aziz, from Mansur, from Muslim ibn Subayh — that he said: 'I was with Masruq in a house that had an image of Maryam. Masruq said: This is an image of Kisra [the Persian emperor]. I said: No, it is an image of Maryam. Masruq said: Well, I heard 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud say: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: The most severely punished of people on the Day of Resurrection will be the image-makers [al-musawwirun].'
