English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Sufyan, from Jami', from Abi Wa'il — from the Prophet ﷺ that he said: 'No servant withholds the zakah of his wealth except that a bald serpent [shuja' aqra'] will be set upon him, following him as he flees from it, saying: I am your treasure.' Then 'Abdullah recited its confirmation in the Book of Allah: They will be encircled with what they withheld on the Day of Resurrection [3:180]. Sufyan said on one occasion: 'It will be placed around his neck as a collar.'
