English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Abu Mu'awiya, from al-A'mash, from Shaqiq — that 'Abdullah said: 'A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, if I do good in Islam, will I be held accountable for what I did in the Jahiliyya [pre-Islamic era]? He said: If you do good in Islam, you will not be held accountable for what you did in the Jahiliyya. But if you do evil in Islam, you will be held accountable for both the first and the last.'
