English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Abu Mu'awiya, from Ibrahim ibn Muslim al-Hajari, from Abi al-Ahwas — that 'Abdullah said: 'Whoever wishes to meet Allah (عز وجل) tomorrow as a Muslim, let him guard these prescribed prayers at the places where the call is made for them — for they are among the sunnah of guidance. And indeed Allah (عز وجل) ordained for your Prophet the sunnah of guidance. Each of you has a prayer place in his home — but if you were to pray in your homes as this one who stays behind prays in his home, you would have abandoned the sunnah of your Prophet; and if you abandoned the sunnah of your Prophet, you would go astray. I have seen it such that none stayed behind from it [the congregational prayer] except a hypocrite whose hypocrisy was well known. And I have seen a man being supported between two men until he was made to stand in the row. And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: No man performs wudu and performs it well, then walks to one of the mosques, taking a step — except that through it a rank is raised for him, or a sin is removed from him, or a good deed is written for him — so that we used to take short steps [to multiply the reward]. And the superiority of a man's prayer in congregation over his prayer alone is twenty-five degrees.'
