English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Ibn Numayr, from Malik ibn Mighwal, from al-Zubayr ibn 'Adiyy, from Talha, from Murra — that 'Abdullah said: 'When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was taken on the Night Journey [al-isra'], he was brought to the Lote-Tree of the Utmost Boundary [Sidrat al-Muntaha], which is in the sixth heaven. To it ends whatever ascends from the earth and is received there; and to it ends whatever descends from above it and is received there. He recited: When the Lote-Tree was covered by what covered it [53:16] — [meaning] moths of gold. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was then given three things: he was given the five prayers, he was given the concluding verses of Surah al-Baqara, and it was forgiven for those of his nation who do not associate anything with Allah — the grave sins [al-muqhimat].'
