English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Yazid, from al-Mas'udi, from 'Amr ibn Murra, from Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, from 'Alqama — that 'Abdullah said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ lay down on a reed mat [hasir] and it left marks on his side. When he awoke, I began to wipe his side. I said: O Messenger of Allah, would you not have let us know so we could have spread something over the mat for you? the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: What do I have to do with the world? I and the world are like a rider who rested in the shade of a tree, then moved on and left it.'
