Hadith #453

English Translation
Muhammad ibn Fudayl narrated to us, Mutarrif narrated to us, from Abu al-Jahm, from Abu al-Radrad, from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud رضي الله عنه who said: 'I used to greet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in prayer, and he would return the greeting to me. Then when we returned from the Negus (the king of Abyssinia), I greeted him and he did not return it. I became upset, so when he finished, I mentioned that to him. He said: Indeed, Allah عز وجل introduces into the affairs whatever He wills, and among what He has introduced is that you should not speak during the prayer.'
