حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَ

الَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْأَحْوَصِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَدْعُو بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى

English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Rawh, from Shu'ba, from Abi Ishaq, from Abi al-Ahwas — that the Prophet ﷺ used to supplicate with this supplication: 'O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and independence.'
