English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Azhar ibn Sa'd, from Ibn 'Awn, from Ibrahim, from 'Ubayda — that 'Abdullah narrated from the Prophet ﷺ that he said: 'The best of people is my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them.' He [the narrator] said: 'And I do not know whether he said at the third or the fourth [generation]: Then there will succeed them successors whose testimony comes before their oath and whose oath comes before their testimony.'
