English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Abd al-Samad, from Hammad, from 'Asim, from Zirr — that Ibn Mas'ud said: 'At [the battle of] Badr, they had one camel for every three men. The riding companion [zamil] of the Prophet ﷺ was 'Ali and Abu Lubaba. When it was the Prophet ﷺ's (ﷺ) turn to walk, they would say to him: Ride and we will walk for you. But he would say: You are no stronger than I, and I am no less in need of the reward than you.'
