حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَ
نْ عُثْمَانَ الْجَزَرِيِّ عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ قَالَ لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَايَةَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَرَايَةَ الْأَنْصَارِ مَعَ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ وَكَانَ إِذَا اسْتَحَرَّ الْقَتْلُ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِمَّا يَكُونَ تَحْتَ رَايَةِ الْأَنْصَارِ

English Translation
It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (رضي الله عنهما) — via 'Uthman al-Jazari, from Miqsam — he said: I only know this to be from Ibn 'Abbas — that the banner of the Prophet ﷺ was carried by 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه), and the banner of the Ansar was carried by Sa'd ibn 'Ubadah (رضي الله عنه). When the fighting intensified, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would take cover under the banner of the Ansar.
