حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ وَحَجَّاجٌ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ الْعَيْزَارِ قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيَّ وَقَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا صَاحِبُ هَذِهِ الدَّارِ وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى دَارِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَمَا سَمَّاهُ لَنَا قَالَ سَ
أَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَقَالَ الصَّلَاةُ عَلَى وَقْتِهَا قَالَ الْحَجَّاجُ لِوَقْتِهَا قَالَ ثُمَّ أَيٌّ قَالَ ثُمَّ بِرُّ الْوَالِدَيْنِ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَيٌّ قَالَ ثُمَّ الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَلَوْ اسْتَزَدْتُهُ لَزَادَنِي

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) — via Muhammad ibn Ja'far and Hajjaj, from Shu'ba, from al-Walid ibn al-'Ayzar. Hajjaj says: I heard Abu 'Amr al-Shaybani; and Muhammad says: from Abu 'Amr al-Shaybani — he said: 'The owner of this house narrated to us' — gesturing toward 'Abdullah's house — 'without naming him. He said: I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: Which deed is most beloved to Allah (عز وجل)? He said: Prayer at its time — Hajjaj says: at its proper time. I said: Then what? He said: Then honoring one's parents. I said: Then what? He said: Then jihad in the path of Allah. And had I asked him for more, he would have told me more.'
