حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ أَخْبَرَنَا عَطَاءُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ أَنَّ أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُول
ُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ دَاءٍ إِلَّا أَنْزَلَ مَعَهُ شِفَاءً وَقَالَ عَفَّانُ مَرَّةً إِلَّا أَنْزَلَ لَهُ شِفَاءً عَلِمَهُ مَنْ عَلِمَهُ وَجَهِلَهُ مَنْ جَهِلَهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via 'Affan, from Hammam, from 'Ata' ibn al-Sa'ib, from Abu 'Abd al-Rahman [al-Sulami] — that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Allah (عز وجل) has not sent down any disease except that He sent down with it a cure' — and 'Affan said on one occasion: 'except that He sent down for it a cure' — 'known to whoever knows it, unknown to whoever does not know it.'
