حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَمْشِي إِذْ مَرَّ بِصِبْيَانٍ يَلْعَبُونَ فِيهِمْ ابْنُ صَيَّادٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَ
لَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَرِبَتْ يَدَاكَ أَتَشْهَدُ أَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ هُوَ أَتَشْهَدُ أَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ دَعْنِي فَلْأَضْرِبْ عُنُقَهُ قَالَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنْ يَكُ الَّذِي تَخَافُ فَلَنْ تَسْتَطِيعَهُ

English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Yunus, from al-Mu'tamir, from his father, from Sulayman al-A'mash, from Shaqiq ibn Salama — that he said: 'While we were walking with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, we passed by some boys playing — among them Ibn Sayyad. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said [to him]: "May your hands be stained with dust! Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" He [Ibn Sayyad] said: "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" 'Umar (رضي الله عنه) said: "Let me strike off his neck." the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If he is [the one] you fear, you will not be able to [kill] him."'
