English Translation

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (رضي الله عنه) — via Ya'qub, from his father, from Ibn Ishaq, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Aswad al-Nakha'i, from his uncle 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Yazid — that he said: 'I stood with 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud before the jamra. When he took his position before it, he said: "This — by the One other than Whom there is no god — is the standing place of the one upon whom Surah al-Baqara was revealed, on the day he stoned it." 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud then stoned it with seven pebbles, saying the takbir with each pebble he threw, then departed.'
