English Translation
It was narrated from 'Abdullah (رضي الله عنه) — via Muhammad ibn Ja'far, from Shu'ba, from Sulayman (al-A'mash), from 'Abdullah ibn Murra, from Masruq — that he said: 'Not one of us [is truly of us] who strikes his cheeks, tears his collar, or calls out with the call of Jahiliyya.' Sulayman said: 'I believe he traced it back to the Prophet ﷺ.'
